Jun 16-2026

Ghana actively participated in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) held from 1st to 12th June, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland. The Ghanaian delegation was led by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, and included the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, officials from their respective Ministries, representatives of employers’ and workers’ organisations, and officials of Ghana’s Permanent Mission in Geneva.

During the Conference, Ghana contributed to discussions on key labour issues, including the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of work, decent work in the platform economy, gender equality, and social dialogue. In his national statement, the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment highlighted Ghana’s recent launch of the National AI Strategy and underscored the country’s commitment to ensuring that technological advances create decent employment opportunities while safeguarding workers’ rights and welfare. He also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to eliminating child labour, forced labour, workplace discrimination, violence, and harassment.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the Ghanaian delegation paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and his team. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Ghana and the ILO, youth employment, skills development, and emerging labour market challenges. Ghana also showcased its commitment to tripartite social dialogue and extended an invitation to ILO Member States to participate in the 2026 Annual National Labour Conference in Ghana.

Through its active participation in the Conference proceedings and bilateral engagements, Ghana reaffirmed its support for the ILO’s mandate and its commitment to advancing decent work, social protection, and sustainable development for all.
